California nanodiamonds evidence of Clovis-age comets? ...
Or evidence of thousands of Tunguska-like explosions in
the sky?

21 Jul 09 – University of Oregon archaeologist Douglas J. Kennett
and colleagues report finding shock-synthesized hexagonal diamonds
in 12,900-year-old sediments off the southern California coast.

The tiny diamonds, found buried below 13 feet of sediment on Santa Rosa Island, date to the end of the Clovis Paleo-Indian culture and to the extinction of many North American mammals.

The diamonds were found in association with soot, which forms in extremely hot fires, suggesting an association with regional wildfires based on nearby environmental records.

The type of diamond found “forms under very high temperatures and pressures consistent with a cosmic impact," Kennett said.

"It is hard to explain this assemblage of materials without a cosmic impact event and associated extensive wildfires,” said Kennett’s father James Kennett, paleoceanographer and professor emeritus in the Department of Earth Science at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

These findings suggest “that rapid climate change at this time was possibly triggered by a series of small and widely dispersed comet strikes across much of North America,” said the elder Kennett.

     A better explanation

     I think there’s a better explanation, and it has to do with magnetic
     reversals.

     The Gothenburg magnetic reversal has been dated to approxi-  
     mately the same time as the layer of diamonds.

     I don’t think that’s a coincidence.

     I also don’t think it’s a coincidence that radioactivity levels
     in 12,900-year-old soil measure up to 2,000 times normal.
     During magnetic reversals, the earth’s magnetic shielding
     drops precipitously, allowing mutation-causing radioactivity
     onto our planet.

     Let’s look at the dates.

     
     According to Nils-Axel Mörner and Johan Lanser, the Gothenburg
     magnetic excursion occurred about 12,000 years ago. It doesn’t
     take a huge stretch of the imagination to see that there might be
     a link between that excursion and the huge amounts of carbon,
     iridium, nanodiamonds and radioactivity that suddenly appeared
     on our planet.

     Especially when we remember the Lake Mungo magnetic excursion
     of 32,500 years ago with its increased levels of radioactivity, and
     when we remember the Laschamp magnetic excursion of around
     43,000 years ago with its increased levels of radioactivity, and
     when we remember the Mono Lake magnetic excursion of 23,000
     years ago and the catastrophic descent into an ice age.

     Do we really believe that a comet just happened to come along
     in sync with each of those magnetic excursions? Do we really
     believe that a comet just happened to come along every 11,500
     years in sync with equinoctial precession?

     A more logical explanation is that each of those magnetic
     excursions triggered millions of Tunguska-like explosions above
     the mammoths’ heads.

     Magnetic reversals cause extinctions, and magnetic reversals
     cause evolutionary leaps.

begin to digest the depth
