Fist of an angry God?


9 Aug 09 – Something – no one knows what – has punched through Saturn’s narrow F ring.

Discover Magazine says it’s “Like the Fist of an Angry God.”



This is one of the latest pictures returned from the Cassini spacecraft, which has been orbiting Saturn since 2004.

Despite measuring hundreds of thousands of kilometers across, Saturn’s rings are only a few meters thick, so this – whatever it is – really stands out.
